I passed my NCS exam!

I am so excited to announce that I am now a Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist! After studying for 6 long months, it’s done! I originally wanted to take it 8-10 years post graduation but, decided on 5 years instead. I never thought that I would take another exam so soon. I have wanted to become an NCS for the past 9 years as I have always had a passion for neuro. Unfortunately, I’ve had other PTs and even professors say things to discourage me. Telling me that it was “Too hard!” and “There’s no point in taking it.” It made me feel as if I wasn’t good enough. But once again, I proved them wrong! I am not a failure. I am proof that anything is possible. Luckily, I have supportive mentors who gave me advice on how to be successful. I’m going to continue to use what I know to give my patients the best treatment possible. I love what I do and I know that everyday I am making a positive change in someone’s life.

Hello, Congratulations on passing your exam. I like your post of Bessie Blount. I have just been accepted to Samuel Merritt DPT program. Do you have advise to prepare for my first year?  Wish you much success. thank youArt Robinson

    1. Thank you and congratulations to you as well! That is so exciting. Did they send you a welcome packet? My advice would be to really hone in on the courses that you have to take. Really “review” what those courses are to establish a study schedule that works for you. Especially for the heavy hitting courses such as anatomy. I also found a few students in my program via the Student Doctor Network. I created a post reaching out to first years who got accepted to AIC. It helped to ease the anxiety. But, my biggest tip is to enjoy all of your free time before starting school. As you may know, PT school is a full time job. So once you get the information, lock it in after class so that it sticks! Unfortunately, I decided to be a nerd and do a ton of anatomy review on origins, nerves, insertions and functions of muscles. Lol but it’s truly up to you. You’re going to do great!
